An overview of research work at amd.sigma GmbH

Electric Regional Airport

Set within the emerging landscape of regional air mobility, the InterRegional eAirport is conceived as a prototype for a new, low-emission airport typology centred on electric flight.

Developed at amd.sigma, the concept combines vertiport operations and infrastructure for small electric aircraft in a compact, modular terminal that reduces walking distances, simplifies processes, and creates an intuitive passenger journey.

Drawing on existing regional airport assets, the design is deliberately scalable, allowing operators to expand capacity step by step as demand and technology mature. Sustainability is embedded from the outset, with a strong emphasis on on-site energy generation, efficient operations, and a building concept designed for low complexity and future adaptability.

The result is an airport that feels practical, efficient, and quietly transformative: a model for reconnecting cities and regions across underserved corridors through a new generation of clean, interregional air transport.
